Fraud and scams aren't new, many people have probably encountered one or both sometime in their lives.
There are two sides to this article, the first part is related to the team or individual the second is the client.
Some paranormal teams or individuals will charge for these services, they include:
* cleansing and clearing
* investigation
* exorcisms
* barriers and protection
* consultation
(more added soon, those are the most common)
Sometimes masquerading as a legit team to just go in and survey the house to later on break in and steal or swipe and take items while in the home. The illusion can be so good they have a professional looking site and the big red flag is they will advertise services with price tags.
In some occasions some clients will give the team or individual money or gifts sometimes a meal as a thank you. Usually its just a verbal thank you or hand shake or hug though.
Clients can be just as bad as the team. Some people want the attention, others are delusional and are so into ghosts and spooks that they create their own fantasy. Then assume if the team comes in and looks around it confirms their made up world in their mind.
If your an investigator create a legal document that protects your team. If the client is not home during the time of the investigation keep that paperwork with you stating you are allowed to be there. Neighborhood watch could report you. Also be careful of items that could be broken or stolen by a member. It can happen.
Always use common sense and keep your wits about you. Never be afraid to ask questions, and identification and references.
